Agriturismo BORGOIANO IN
TOSCANA -
Montaione Loc. Iano - Firenze - Florence
Siena
Surrounded by the olive trees and the vineyards of the Chianti
region, Siena is one of Tuscany’s most beautiful towns. Built on the
top of three hills, the town is crossed by wide avenues and narrow
alleys that lead to its heart, the Piazza del Campo, and to all the
other buildings of cultural significance, like the Duomo and the
Spedale di Santa Maria della Scala. Few geographical areas in the
world can boast a natural setting like the one that characterises
Siena’s environs.
In the north, one can appreciate the richness of the Chianti
landscape, with its vineyards, olive groves and small hamlets like
San Gimignano and Monteriggioni, with their city walls, the winding
roads that embrace them and the breathtaking view they offer. South
of Siena, the Arbia valley leads to the hilly town of Montalcino,
where the world-renowned Brunello wine is produced. Le Crete and
their steep, rough rocky formations offer the onlooker a striking
view.
Famous for its Palio, the historical horse race held each year on
2nd July and 16th August, Siena is also the seat of one of Europe’s
most ancient universities. Besides the bustling everyday life that
animates its roads and squares, Siena also offers numerous cultural
events, concerts, cinemas, theatres and sports activities. |
