The Bed and Breakfast sector of Irish accommodation has commenced a classification scheme administered by Failte Ireland.
The scheme incorporates a 3*, 4* and 5* rating which endeavours to meet and exceed consumer expectations and cater for the needs of today's consumers.
The objective of the scheme is to allow consumers recognise quality and to differentiate levels of facilities and services. The scheme offers far greater information and transparency for the consumer.
A 3* property offers a good level of comfort, facilities and service and in addition to the Failte Ireland minimum level of standard, will include the following additions;
- guests satisfaction regularly monitored
- attentive, more personalised service with good levels of customer care
- strong awareness and anticipation of guest needs
- nominated person contactable 24 hours a day
- offer of refreshments on arrival
- early morning call available or provide an alarm clock
- directions to property available online at the time of booking per person sharing
- credit card facilities available
- full Irish breakfast available
- selection of newspapers and magazines available in sitting room
- tea and coffee making facilities available all day
- furniture and floor covering of a good standard and well maintained.
A 4* property offers a high level of comfort, facilities and service and in addition to the Failte Ireland minimum level of standard and the services provided at 3* , will include the following additions also;
- home baking offered with refreshments on arrival
- selection of teas and herbal teas available
- guests escorted to bedroom with assistance for luggage
- safe available for storage of valuables
- information available on restaurant booking, theatre, taxi and bus service
- quality light fittings and furniture
- linen or excellent quality napkins.
- excellent cooking with an emphasis on fresh, seasonal, locally
sourced produce
- selection of yogurt, cheese, cold meat, juices, homemade bread and herbal tea available for breakfast
- internet connection available
- bedroom will be a minimum of 14 sq.m for double or twin
- complimentary drinking water supplied in room
- furniture and floor covering will be of good quality and be in excellent condition.
A 5* property offers a excellent level of comfort, facilities and service and in addition to the Failte Ireland minimum level of standard and the services provided at 3* and 4*, will include the following additions also;
- message service available
- exceptional and innovative guest service and guests relations displayed
- sufficient staff available to ensure guests needs are provided for at all times
- guests will have the choice to dine alone or in a group setting
- linen – high quality cloth tablecloth
- extensive breakfast menu available including fresh fish when available
- complimentary afternoon tea available to guests
- if wine provided, a well balanced list will be available
- access to computer or laptop available
- bedroom will be a minimum of 18 sq.m for double or twin
- private bathroom will be a minimum of 3.5sq.m
- high quality linen or high grade cotton linen used
- a range of quality toiletries available
- top quality furniture maintained to the highest standard.

located abaout 5 km far from the

Information on the B&B Programme

GAYP Programme
The Bed and Breakfast
Accommodation Programme is sold
on a “Go As You Please”
basis with the first night
pre-booked at the point of
arrival. Please note the first
night is pre-booked at no extra
cost.
Go As You Please Accommodation
will be based on 3* Bed and
Breakfast accommodation. All
supplements are to be paid
locally by the clients.
Single rooms
In general, the majority of the
Bed and Breakfast houses do not
have single rooms. However the
limited few that do offer a
single room may be standard
rooms rather than en-suite.
Children’s Rates
Child Policy is based on
children sharing with 2 adults
aged 2-11 years inclusive. All
costs for children under 2 years
to be paid directly to the home.
(no reduction for children in
their own room).
Conditions
Arrival Times:
Rooms are
held until 18.00hrs on day of
arrival. If clients will arrive
later than this, they must
advise the house owner. Check in
is between 16h00 & 18h00. Check
out by 11.00 the following day.
Note: Bed and Breakfast
properties are family homes.
We
can not be responsible for
client's first night stay if
they arrive after 18h00 and we
have not been advised of their
arrival time.
Onward reservations:
For the cost of the phone call,
the home will assist clients in
booking subsequent nights. To
avoid disappointment we advise
your clients to avail of this
facility.
Cancellation Conditions:
If a reservation is cancelled
within 24 hours to 7 days of
arrival, a cancellation fee of
50% of the cost of the B&B of
1st night applies.There is no
charge for bookings cancelled
outside of 7 days.
NOTE:
There is often a misconception
that clients may take part in
the activities on the farms,
however, for insurance purposes
in most cases this is not
permitted.
Note: Very busy dates in
Galway! Last weekend in
July - Race week – pre-booking
is most definitely recommended
(subject to
availability).
Note Dublin:
Please note availability is
extremely limited in Dublin all
year around and in particular in
June, July and August.
We recommend that clients choose
hotel accommodation to avoid any
disappointment as the Bed &
Breakfast in Dublin are located
abaout 5 km far from the city
center!.
