HORSEBACK RIDING
The valley of the Lambro and Mingardo rivers.
The mythical Lambro river valley offers enchanting views. They are
even more so when the herons and storks return. The Lambro is
actually a torrent that starts with aggressive rapids, and becomes
majestic and calm at the mouth, with ample inlets. The Mingardo
river originates in the Cervati Mountains. It passes through the
well known Gola del Diavolo, a deep canyon just before the mouth.
The medieval town of San Severino sits on top of the hills forming
the canyon.
For fans and newbie’s we propose a whole week. For everybody else, a
wonderful 3-day weekend. Bring clothes suitable for horseback
riding. Actual horseback riding clothes are not necessary. Bring
your camera and/or camcorder. Beginners are welcome.
Formula Weekend
Friday afternoon: Welcome, Happy Hour and check in.
- 8:00pm: Dinner and Slide show: The Valley of Lambro and Mingardo
Saturday:
- 7:30am: Breakfast
- 8:30am: At the stables: Ride to the Valle del Diavolo, Borgo
Medievale di San Severino.
- 12:30pm: Picnic lunch
- 1:00pm: Start ride back to the ranch
- 8:00pm: Dinner and entertainment (piano bar)
Sunday:
- 8:00am: Breakfast
- 9:00am: At the stables: Round trip ride to the Lambro Valley
- 12:30pm: Return to the ranch
- 1:00pm: Lunch and rest
- 4:00pm Guest departure
Student Week
- Saturday: Happy Hour and check in. Slide show, dinner and live
entertainment (piano bar)
- Sunday: Breakfast and ride to school. Your first lesson will be on
site. Get acquainted with your horse and horse dressing. Return to
the ranch for lunch. Excursion to San Mauro la Bruca and X Century
crypt. Dinner.
- Monday: Breakfast and ride to school. Practice lesson and brief
excursion to the Mingardo river. Return to the ranch for lunch.
Excursion to the Borgo Medievale di San Severino di Centola and
Rocca Gloriosa. See the Tombe dei Lucani San Severino and the chapel
in the monastery. Return to the ranch for dinner.
- Tuesday: Breakfast and ride to school. Practice lesson and brief
excursion to the river. Return to the ranch for lunch. Excursion to
Cuccaro Vetere. Return to the ranch for Dinner.
- Wednesday: Breakfast and ride to school. Practice lesson and brief
excursion to the river. Return to the ranch for lunch. Excursion to
Velia: see the town and the excavation. Return to the ranch for
Dinner
- Thursday: Breakfast and ride to school. Practice lesson and brief
excursion to the river. Return to the ranch for lunch. Excursion to
Paestum, museum and excavation. Return to the ranch for Dinner
- Friday: Breakfast and ride to school. Practice lesson and brief
excursion to the river. Return to the ranch for lunch. Free
afternoon and dinner
- Saturday: Breakfast, walk in the Bruca wood and hike to Mount
Castelluccio. Return to the ranch. Guest departure.
Fans Week
- Saturday: Welcome, Happy Hour, and check in. Slide show, dinner
and live entertainment (piano bar)
- Sunday: Breakfast and ride to the stables. Get acquainted with
your horse. Your choice of English or American saddling. Horseback
riding excursion to San Mauro la Bruca and X Century crypt, through
the Bruca wood to Mount Carmelo. Return to the ranch. Dinner and
live entertainment.
- Monday: Breakfast and ride to the stables. Saddle your horse and
take an excursion to San Severino, picnic lunch, Gola del Diavolo,
Foce del Mingardo, where you can take an optional swim in the river.
Return to the ranch for Dinner.
- Tuesday: Breakfast and ride to the stables. Saddle your horse and
depart to Timpa Santincono for sightseeing and picnic lunch. Proceed
to Camerota for local crafts. Return to the ranch for dinner.
- Wednesday: Breakfast and ride to the stables. Saddle your horse
and depart to Molpa and the Lambro river. Return to the ranch for
lunch. Free afternoon. Dinner
- Thursday: Breakfast and ride to the stables. Saddle your horse and
take an excursion along the Lambro river to the old mill. Picnic
lunch, proceed to Futani, Eremiti, San Nazario. See the old abbey
and the water mill, then the Demanio. Return to the ranch for dinner
- Friday: Breakfast and ride to the stables. Saddle your horse and
depart to Mount Castelluccio, Mount Carmelo, and Laurusso. Picnic
lunch, return to the ranch for dinner
- Saturday: Breakfast and ride to the stables. Saddle your horse and
depart to Cuore and Cernile. Return to the ranch for lunch. Guest
